Tschabalala Self - Fitting Day - Met Gala 2026
We went behind the scenes of Self's collaboration with designer and longtime friend Brandon Blackwood (of @brandonblackwoodnyc) to create a dress that feels "like a period piece come to life." The final look weaves together personal and artistic motifs, including textures reminiscent of Self's portraits and a silhouette inspired by tulips in the Hudson Valley, where the pair first met. For Self, the dress recalls the bronze and textile elements of Degas's "Little Dancer" (1878-81).”
