Personal Project
At 7,600 ft, Asmara sits at the same altitude as many of Europe’s ski stations, where the light is sharp, colours fall into stark contrast, and the thin air carries a quiet disorientation, a feeling that echoes through Tesfai’s photography. In 2024, Tesfai returned to Eritrea with her cousins Rahwa and Sesen, attempting to find connection and belonging with her fatherland. Moving through family, memory, and everyday life, the series holds that search in place, without forcing it into resolution
