Finding Balance in the Chaos
The video is a bit chaotic but it never feels random. That balance was intentional. "Trying to come up with as many ways to visualize the same amount of time through different experiences," Kohli said, "paint drying or a bubble floating out the window is the same 5 seconds as a piñata exploding or a couple kissing. Sometimes 5 seconds feels like 20, sometimes it feels like 0.2."
The Liminal Scenes
Empty rooms show up throughout the video, deliberately placed against its more intimate moments. "The emptiness of a space where you expect to see life is always jarring," Kohli explained. "It felt like an interesting way to unsettle some of the other incredibly tactile and intimate moments that anchor the video at the opposite end of the spectrum."
The Most Personal Shot
For Drew, the truck scene shot on backroads through the ranch carries the most weight. "I put on songs that inspired 'Same Old Song' to get into a specific vibe," she said. "We listened to Tom Petty, Bruce Hornsby, Bonnie Raitt, imagining it was just a random day in the back of this truck with no camera crew around."
