This video was inspired by the Arab concept of 'majilis' (المجلس) translating to 'sitting room' but truly conveying the idea of special gathering spaces for family or social groups to exist, break bread, enjoy music or performance, etc. We created a makeshift majilis space inside a warehouse in Los Angeles to parallel the experience of second generation immigrants in the USA finding ways to re-connect with their homelands and cultures while separated by thousands of miles.
